The 60-Second Pick

Skip the full shortlist. Here is the one-line call by scenario.

Choose your cabinet lane before you pick a brand.

The smartest first decision is the type of project you are building, not the logo on the door. These four lanes reflect how DMV homeowners narrow the field in the showroom.

Lane 01

High visual value without luxury pricing

For homeowners and contractors who want the kitchen to look current and finished while keeping the budget grounded.

Lane 02

American wood character and furniture-like warmth

For kitchens that should feel richer, more personal, and more rooted in real wood craftsmanship.

Lane 03

Frameless precision for cleaner, modern kitchens

For projects where minimal lines, better interior access, and architectural simplicity matter more than ornament.

Lane 04

A whole-home mix instead of a one-brand rule

For projects where the kitchen leads, but the pantry, laundry, or secondary spaces may need a smarter cabinet mix.

Showplace EVO is a frameless sub-line of Showplace — shown separately here for construction comparison, but counted once among our nine core brands. Price tiers are relative within our catalog, not dollar figures.

Framed or frameless? The single biggest decision.

The first question to answer is not which brand, it is which box type. Framed vs frameless dictates drawer capacity, interior access, and how your doors sit on the cabinet.

Framed cabinets

A 1.5-inch face frame is attached to the front of the box. Doors and drawers mount onto that frame. This is the traditional American construction you grew up with.

Interior access is slightly tighter — the frame narrows the opening by about 1 to 1.5 inches per side. What you gain is rock-solid door alignment over time and a broader range of traditional door styles, including inset, where the door sits flush inside the frame.

In the catalog: Fabuwood, Mantra, 1951, Showplace, Legacy Crafted, Bertch, and most UltraCraft lines.

Frameless cabinets

Sometimes called European or full-access. The face frame is skipped. The door mounts directly to the box side.

You get about 10 to 15 percent more usable drawer width at the same cabinet width. Interior sightlines are cleaner. The reveal between doors is tighter. The trade-off: door alignment depends on a perfectly square box and precise hinges — manufacturing tolerance matters more.

In the catalog: Showplace EVO, Bauformat, and UltraCraft’s full-access line.

Rule of thumb

Want inset doors, a beaded face frame, or traditional detailing? Go framed. Want slab doors, handleless pulls, or the maximum drawer storage in a small kitchen? Go frameless. Everything else is noise.

Which price tier is realistic for your kitchen?

In the DMV, most kitchen remodels fall between $15,000 and $75,000 depending on size, scope, and brand tier. Northern Virginia averages sit around $75,000 — roughly 40% above the national average. Cabinetry is 35 to 45% of that total.

Still deciding? Start with the four pressure points.

You do not need a full spec sheet to make progress. Pick the pressure point that matters most in your project.

Need speed

Start with Mantra, Fabuwood, and 1951 if timing, availability, and an efficient path to order are top priorities.

Need warmth

Start with Showplace, Bertch, and Legacy Crafted if you want richer wood presence, more texture, and a more furniture-like feel.

Need clean lines

Start with UltraCraft and Bauformat if framed cabinetry already feels too traditional for the kitchen you have in mind.

Need a smarter mix

Use the showroom to combine brands across the home when one line should lead the kitchen and another should control cost in secondary spaces.

Q1 2026 audit — three non-obvious findings

1. Modification surcharges hit the $ tier hardest.

On stock lines — Fabuwood, Mantra, 1951 — modifications like reduced-depth wall cabinets, taller bases, or custom fillers added 12 to 18% to line-item price. Lead time slid from ~2 weeks into ~4 weeks. For an irregular galley or a radiator in the way, the stock savings often vanished by the time the mods were priced in.

2. Bauformat surprised on delivery consistency.

Despite the longest nominal lead time, Bauformat landed inside the quoted window on a higher percentage of tracked jobs than two mid-tier domestic brands. German scheduling and pre-consolidated ocean freight beat domestic trucking, which swings with carrier capacity across our multi-state network.

3. RTA beat stock brands on total time-to-install.

On standard 10×10 Shaker kitchens with no modifications, RTA averaged days-to-install from order to on-wall. Fabuwood ran 2 to 3 weeks. Mantra ran 3 to 5 weeks. The plywood-box and dovetail-drawer spec held up in post-install inspections at the same rate as the semi-custom lines.

Methodology. We tracked 100+ kitchen orders across our showroom network in Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina, Texas, New Jersey, Florida, and Tennessee between January and March 2026. Lead time was measured from cabinet order placement to confirmed on-site delivery. Modifications were flagged when the final quoted line item diverged from the manufacturer’s standard spec catalog.

Buying cabinetry is not the same as buying cabinets with install.

The latter is what most homeowners actually need. And the difference changes which brand is the right call. Here is what comes with a kitchen cabinet order at USA Cabinet Store.

After 15+ years and thousands of kitchens, we know the projects we serve best.

Most DMV homeowners planning a full kitchen remodel — $15K to $155K, nine brand choices, design-to-install — this is exactly what we do. Every day. For 15+ years. Here are the few cases where a different partner may serve you better.

Kitchen cabinet questions we answer every week.

The questions that show up on every discovery call. Direct answers, no fluff.

What is the difference between stock, semi-custom, and custom cabinets?

Stock cabinets come in fixed sizes — usually 3-inch increments — and a short list of door styles and finishes. Semi-custom adds modifications on top of that framework: different widths, heights, depths, or extra door styles. Custom cabinets are built to any dimension in any finish. In our lineup, RTA, Fabuwood, Mantra, and 1951 are stock or semi-custom. Showplace, Legacy Crafted, and Bertch are semi-custom. UltraCraft is custom built-to-order. Bauformat is modular European.

What is the difference between RTA Cabinets and branded lines like Fabuwood?

RTA is our value line, backed by Fabuwood with a 5-year limited warranty. Same plywood box, same 3/4″ solid wood door frames with mortise-and-tenon joinery, same 5/8″ dovetail drawer boxes you get in the premium branded lines — just flat-packed or pre-assembled at a lower price because local stocking cuts the shipping. The branded lines trade up on door catalog, finish range, longer warranties, and modification flexibility. RTA is the right pick when Shaker White, Grey, or Blue fits the design and speed matters more than options.

Are framed or frameless cabinets better for small kitchens?

Frameless wins in small kitchens. You get about 10 to 15 percent more usable drawer width at the same cabinet width because no face frame narrows the opening. Interior sightlines are cleaner. Drawers run wider. That matters most in galley kitchens under 12 feet. The trade-off: frameless depends on perfectly square boxes and precise hinges, so build tolerance matters. If you want Shaker doors and a traditional look, framed still works in a small kitchen — you just lose a bit of interior width. Showplace EVO, Bauformat, and UltraCraft’s full-access line are the frameless options in our catalog.

How long do kitchen cabinets take to arrive?

Stock lines — Fabuwood, Mantra, 1951 — land in 2 to 3 weeks. Semi-custom and custom — Showplace, Legacy Crafted, Bertch, UltraCraft — run 5 to 10 weeks. Bauformat is 10 to 14 weeks because of ocean freight from Germany. Every number starts the clock on final design approval, not on your first showroom visit.

Which kitchen cabinet brand has the best warranty?

Almost every brand on this page carries a limited lifetime warranty, but coverage varies. Showplace’s is among the strongest on the list. It comes from an employee-owned manufacturer, which makes long-term claim service more predictable. And when you buy through us, the warranty claim runs through USA Cabinet Store — not the factory.

Do I need to pick the cabinet brand before designing my kitchen?

No — and you shouldn’t. Pick the door style, finish, and budget band first. The brand falls out of those three decisions. A white Shaker kitchen on a value budget points to Fabuwood or Mantra. A stained two-tone island on a semi-custom budget points to Showplace or Legacy Crafted. Our design process is built to narrow the brand in the first showroom visit.

Can I see a sample door before I order?

Yes. Every brand in this catalog has sample doors in the showroom. For most brands we can ship a sample door to your home. Checking a sample under your own kitchen lighting is the single step that prevents the most post-install regret.
